The original German hot dog – the Frankfurter – dates back over 600 years and was originally made entirely of pork.
These days, Frankfurters are available with 100% pork or 100% beef, or a combination of both meats. Seasonings are simple – salt, onions, and a few other spices. We use traditional pork casings for more authentic German hot dog flavor, although we will substitute beef casings in a special order.
